Professor Liu Xingtu, an Academian of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is a distinguished wetland ecologist and has made outstanding contributions to wetland conservation, ecological engineering, soil and water regulation of low-lying farmland, and the sustainable development of regional agriculture. He has received 3 National Awards for Progress in Science and Technology and 5 provincial or ministerial Awards for Progress in Science and Technology. He has edited 8 monographs and published more than 130 papers. He has also been awardedthe honours of “National Young Experts with Outstanding Contributions”, “National Excellent Returned Overseas Chinese Intellectual”, and “China Geography Science Achievement Award”. He was also the owner of the Special Subsidygranted by the State Council of Chinain 1991.
