Northeast China Development Research Center is a distinguished department of NEIGAE owing to the deep foundation of regional development research and economic geography study in the past 50 years. There are three main academic directions including urbanization and urban development, economic geography and regional planning, regional sustainable development. The center has long been well-known in these fields such as urbanization, regional economy, urban regeneration, agricultural and rural development and regional planning etc. There are seven staff members and more than 20 master and Ph.D. candidates working in this center presently. It has undertaken at least 15 important projects in the recent years, and seven projects were granted by National Natural Science Foundation of China. And the center has already established good communication channels with overseas institutes particularly in old industrial base comparison study, and it has comprehensive technological capability in regional planning and consulting service for governments and enterprises.
