PIFI seminar:Stable isotope probing of soil health and beyond

Abstract

We invited Prof. William R. Horwath to present an academic report on the afternoon of Dec 12 at the Institute of Applied Ecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Professor Horwath is the editor-in-chief of the Soil Science Society of America Journal and a CAS PIFI Distinguished Scientist from the Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology, CAS. Professor Horwath maintains a large well-funded, very-productive field and laboratory research program including studies of nutrient cycling, soil health, and ecosystem sustainability. He has published an average of 10 papers per year since 2000; has delivered numerous invited lectures in the US and abroad, presents 10 to 12 papers at scientific meetings each year and has attracted over 5 million dollars in funding from highly competitive sources such as NSF and NRI in the past 10 years. He has been successful in generating funding from state and local sources, bringing his research funding over the past 10 years to over $10 million.
