Northeast China's Jilin province is being hit by devastating floods. Raging waters have toppled buildings and ruined farmlands, forcing millions of residents to evacuate since late July, 2010. On July 28, 2010, thirteen people were killed and six others missing after floods swept through Yongji County, and disrupted life of 150,000 local residents.
Staff and students in NEIGAE was greatly concern about the people in the flood-plagued areas. To help the disaster-stricken people to overcome the difficulties and reconstruct their homes, NEIGAE called on all staff and students to donate for those in need in Yongji county. The appeal has been met with a generous and quick response – over 100 staff donated RMB 26615 yuan until Aug 19, 2010.
