In January, 2010, Dongdao No.4, cultivated by Yangfu and other researchers from Da’an Saline-alkali land Ecological Experimental Station, NEIGAE, passed the review of Jilin Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee. The variety growth period is 130 days, which is a middle and early variety. The variety boasted the characteristic of good shape, high production diseases and Saline-alkali resistant, and they are many rachis branches for the first time but less for the second time, which is a super rice variety. The cultivation of Dongdao No.4 fundamentally resolves the shortage of rice variety of Saline-alkali land in western Jilin Province and it is believed that it would replace the Large-scale popularization of rice varieties Changbai No.9 and become the major variety planted in Saline-alkali land in western Jilin Province.
