    The 2014 US-China International Workshop in LSU, U.S.A

    The 2014 US-China International Workshop on Key Processes and Regulation of Wetland Ecosystem co-sponsored by Louisiana state university and Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology, Chinese Academy of Sciences was held at Louisiana state university (LSU) from 11th to 15th November. More than 100 academic experts and professors from China and United States participated in the five-day workshop.

    There are totally 4 plenary lectures and 60 oral presentations that were delivered. The lectures presented during the workshop covers Chemistry of oil spills, Louisiana coastal wetland loss, Global change and carbon cycling in cold region wetlands in the northeast of China and other related topics interesting by both sides.

    The 2014 workshop is the second US-China International Workshop on wetland. The previous one was held last year in Changchun, China . Now it has become an annual event for wetland science community between US and China. The 2014 US-China International workshop has provided an unique opportunity for boths researchers to exchange ideas and thoughts on key processes and regulation of wetland ecosystem. In particular, all the attendees reached an agreement that such workshop has helped attracting the international awareness of wetland protection and conservation.

    Moreover, a field observation and study to Mississippi River and Jean Lafitte National Park and Preserve was also made following the conference. Mr. He Xingyuan, Director General of IGA, Mr. Stuart Bell, Vice president of LSU and Mr. Hecfor Zapata director of International affairs of LSU all attended the workshop.
