On April 9, the 2025 annual working meeting for the "Black Soil Granary" science and technology initiative was held in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. The initiative has brought together over 90 institutions and more than 1,300 researchers. It has established an air-space-ground integrated monitoring technology system and completed the first nationwide remote sensing mapping of soil carbon and nitrogen in typical black soil regions with a spatial resolution of 10 meters. The initiative has proposed a theory centered on stabilizing and enhancing soil fertility for the prevention and control of black soil degradation and the promotion of soil health. It has also developed a comprehensive slope-gully erosion prevention and control technology system. Furthermore, a soybean intelligent breeding technology system based on solid-phase breeding chips has been established. The soybean variety "Dongsheng 22" has been ranked among the top ten in terms of nationwide cultivation area, while the "Dongsheng" series of soybeans has achieved an annual cultivation area exceeding 13 million mu (approximately 8.67 million hectares). The "Honghu" series of intelligent agricultural machinery and tools has broken foreign technological monopolies, and the Fuxi Brain smart agricultural management system has been developed to support the implementation of the national smart agriculture action plan. The initiative has also explored and summarized regionally adaptable farming models such as the "Longjiang Model" and the "Sanjiang Model,".These innovative achievements have strongly supported the national strategy of “storing grain in the land and storing grain in technology”, ensuring the sustainable use of black soil resources.
