Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology (IGA), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), located in Changchun, is a comprehensive research institute focusing on geography, agronomy, ecology, environmental science, and related technology development. We have several state research platforms including the National Wetland Research Center, the National and Local Joint Engineering Center for Crop Molecular Design and Breeding, 13 field experimental stations, multiple agricultural research and demonstration bases. For over 60 years since its establishment, the institute has made important contributions to national science and technology in the fields of black soil conservation, wetland ecology, crop breeding, etc. We have won the First Prize twice and the Second Prize thrice of the State Scientific and Technological Progress Award, and 23 times of the First Prize of S&T awards at the provincial and ministerial levels.

The institute is in the process of establishing the State Key Laboratory of Black Soils Conservation and Utilization (BSCU) and hosts the “Black Soil Granary” Strategic Priority Research Program. To support the newly established BSCU and future research activities, IGA is recruiting highly qualified scientists in the following and related research areas:

Advanced agricultural sciences:soil health, soil erosion and prevention, biological breeding, synthetic biology, stress physiology and ecology, crop cultivation and tillage, microbiome, and intelligent agriculture;

Earth sciences:hydrology and water resources science, soil geography, rural geography, remote sensing science and technology, earth system modeling, and geographical data analysis;

Ecology and environmental science: wetland biodiversity, wetlands and global change, soil ecology, landscape ecology and design, environmental pollution and prevention, ecosystem restoration, and ecological environment modeling.

Outstanding Research Talent

The candidates for this position should have an outstanding international academic and research background and have recognized international research achievements in their field.

Leading Research Talent

The candidates for this position should have served as a professor or worked at an equivalent position in well-known scientific research institutes, universities, or other institutions. Exceptional candidates at an associate professor or equivalent positions are also considered.

Excellent Research Talent

The candidates should have a Ph.D. degree and have at least 3 years of research experience in well-known research institutions or universities after receiving Ph.D. For the excellent candidates who obtained a doctoral degree overseas, the years for overseas research experience can be flexible.
