By Beth Middleton, U.S. Geological Survey, WARC, Lafayette, LA U.S.A. (for website: Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology, Chinese Academy of Science, Changchun, P.R. China) I wish to express my gratitude to the members of Professor Jiang Ming’s lab for the more than ten years of collaboration and research exchange on sedge meadow restoration including Drs. Guodong Wang, Yanging Lou and Xiaohui Liu. This work led to my collaborations with Professor Aixin Hou of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It has also been my pleasure to introduce my colleagues from Professor Ming's lab to the baldcypress swamps of the Mississippi River Alluvial Valley and the Gulf of Mexico.
